The short answer
An M3U link is a playlist: a list of channels with a web address for each. Xtream Codes is a login (server, username, password) to an API, so the player can ask the server for channels, movies, series and the guide separately.
How they differ
- Content. Xtream Codes lists live channels, movies and series in organised categories. An M3U file is one flat list, which can be very large.
- Guide. An Xtream Codes server usually exposes a programme guide. With M3U the guide often comes from a separate XMLTV link, if the provider has one.
- Setup. Xtream Codes is three fields. M3U is one long link that is awkward to type.
- Updates. An Xtream Codes player can refresh a single section; an M3U player re-reads the whole file.
Which should you use?
If your provider offers both, Xtream Codes usually gives a richer result. If you only have an M3U link, Golku plays that too. Either way you add it on your phone, not with the TV remote.
Questions
Can Golku play M3U?
Yes. Golku accepts an M3U playlist link as well as Xtream Codes details.
Which is better, M3U or Xtream Codes?
Xtream Codes usually gives categories, movie and series pages and a guide. M3U is a simpler flat list. Use what your provider gives you.
Can I switch between them?
Yes. You can change the line in your account from your phone.
